Founded in 1871, First United Methodist Church was the First Church established in Colorado Springs. Today we strive to build relationships, love, and community here in Downtown Colorado Springs.

Recently, you may have seen the United Methodist Church in the news regarding a decades-long fight over human sexuality.
We are moving forward as Methodists united to be a community of grace for all people. There are no exceptions or exclusions here at FUMC-CS; we believe all are welcome. We choose Methodism as the vein we have come to know God’s grace and are challenged to follow Jesus into the world.

We believe in the theology of grace
John Wesley first proposed. That grace is profound and integrated into our lives.
We have it at every level. We have grace before we know we need it; there is grace when we commit to following Jesus' grace. We believe grace is here, and the church is one of the last few places you can rub elbows with those entirely different than ourselves, and grace is what binds us together. It’s important because it is here that you are reminded you have worth, that there is grace, and that hope springs eternal. Only here are we invited to see our broken relationship through to healing and transformation. This is what being a community of grace means.
