At First United Methodist Church, we have a vibrant youth group for 6th-12th grade students. We strive to create an open and welcoming atmosphere for youth to explore progressive faith in the 21st century. Here, they can ask questions, discuss their beliefs, and engage in meaningful mission activities. Our youth group offers an opportunity for both those who have grown up in the church and those who are just discovering faith to come together.

Our goal is to provide a place where our youth can find a sense of belonging.

THREE WAYS TO ENGAGE

 SUNDAYS

Youth Sunday School gathers at 10:15am. We share the highs and lows of life. We learn about an old but very special book and discuss why it still matters today. We don’t shy away from big questions. Oh yeah, and we usually eat something or raid the fridge that’s stocked with chocolate milk and soda.

YOUTH GROUP

Youth Group is a time of connection, laughter, games, and worship. Sometimes we meet at the church, sometimes we participate in local missions, and sometimes we take fun outings. Knowing that schedules are hectic, we offer events at various times throughout the month so you can find one that fits your schedule.

RETREATS & TRIPS

Retreats and mission trips are the heart of our youth group. Every fall and winter, youth head up to the John Wesley Ranch in Divide, Colorado, for time with God and without our devices. Missions are central youth ministries. Past trips have included Alamosa, Colorado, Shiprock, and New Mexico, and El Salvador.

CONFIRMATION

For United Methodists, Confirmation marks when, typically, a young person "confirms" their intention to live the vows of baptism and becomes a member of The United Methodist Church. In less churchy terms, youth take their faith to the next level and, if they choose, commit to living the way of Christ.

First United Methodist Church will hold a 12-week Confirmation class beginning in January 2025. Please contact Rev. Amy for more information.
