Hope in an Envelope

Hope in an Envelope is our yearly fundraiser for 719FUMY Mission Trips. Year after year our congregation pours themselves into these young people, often because they remember how foundational mission trips were to shaping them during their teen years. Congregation, thank you for believing in and supporting the young people of our congregation. They will be sharing God’s grace in many contexts this summer and throughout the coming year. The goal of Hope in An Envelope is to raise funds for the future and to support the ongoing missions of our community and the work these young people do and will continue to do.  And with you, we can do it!

Our mission: We continue to INVITE fellowship, DIG deep spiritually, and SERVE all like Jesus did!

We HOPE to gather this summer. We HOPE to serve together this summer. We have HOPE in Jesus and will be led into the future where the mission continues

Here at First United Methodist Church, we have an amazing group of young people that are part of Youth Ministry. In this group, there are those that are trying to decide if a life of faith is for them, those who are beginning to grow in a new relationship with Christ, and those who are deepening their walk with God. If you are willing to become a friend to others, dig deeper spiritually, and serve humbly like Jesus did, this is a place for you to consider.

Our Youth area is in The Zone, in the South basement. We have a comfortable coffee house and a game room with pool table, ping-pong, foosball, video games and a snack bar. Come join us!

We have at least two Youth Retreats at John Wesley Ranch Retreat Center each year. One is in the Fall and one in the Winter. The Ranch is FUMC's awesome get-away up in the mountains, just south of Divide, Colorado. These events focus on a specific topic for spiritual growth for the entire weekend with lots of food and fun mixed in.

All details are mailed out ahead of time, so make sure we have you on our mailing list by contacting Zach Walker at 719-471-8522 x122 or zachw@fumc-cs.org. Prior to a retreat, information will also be available here and in our publications.  Consider joining us!

Are you getting ready for a retreat? Wondering if you have everything packed? Make sure by checking out the Retreat Packing List HERE

719FUMY Mission Trips

Serving others as Christ is one of the "big three" reasons our ministry exists (the other two reasons are "Inviting Friendships" and "Digging Deeper Spirituality"). Mission opportunities abound for our youth! There are times throughout the year to serve locally and each summer, we gather up all the energy and God's love we can to go out beyond our community to serve those in need. We often think we are "taking Christ" to others, but what we find He is already there within those we serve and relate to. Consider joining us and finding God by serving.

Here are some of the ways our FUMC Youth have and will continue to serve:

Learning and serving on our trip to Milwaukee, WI, set for another summer!
John Wesley Ranch Mission/Work Week (repairing, fire mitigation, trail-building)
Serving as co-leaders at the Tweens4God (T4G) Camp at John Wesley Ranch
Doing wildfire recovery work near-by with CUSP
Completing trail and park clean-up projects here in town
Fundraising for Veteran Support Services
Fundraising for The Place
Inside-Out Fundraising
Serving with Feed My Starving Children

Youth Summer Mission Trip 2022:

The youth mission trip this year will begin on Sunday, 6/5 and end on Saturday, 6/11. The trip will be open for youth grades 7-12, and the registration deadline is Tuesday, MARCH 15. For more information on the trip, please visit HERE.

Boy Scouts

The Boy Scouts of America provides a program for young people design to build character, train young persons to be responsible citizens, and developes personal fitness.

Boys between the ages of 11-18 interested in joining our program are invited to attend any of our regular meetings with their parents on Tuesday nights. Troop 777 meets at FUMC, in Hibbard Rooms 50/51/52 at 7:00 pm.

Sunday, May 8 | 8am – 12pm | Hospitality Center | absmith2874@netscape.net

Boy Scout Troop 777 is selling Camp Cards for $5! These provide great discounts to a variety of businesses. The proceeds go towards scouts obtaining merit badges and participating in summer camp. On May 8, they will be present in the Hospitality Center in between services for those who are interested. Contact Scoutmaster Andrew with questions.
