MISSIONS MINISTRY UPDATES:
Throughout the year of 2021 FUMC will be collecting non-perishable foods to be given to local food pantries. There are so many people in need, and this is a gracious way for you to serve others! Thank you Thank you Thank you for your generosity and compassionate acts of giving to those who are less fortunate. Just drop off your food donations at the church in the Missions Donation boxes found by the door. Thank you for offering love and hope to others through the gift of food, for we know that through serving others we are serving God!
In this pandemic year of 2020 many of the established mission programs of FUMC could not happen because of the need for safety and social distancing. We decided that serving in a different way was better than not serving at all! Thus, during the summer and fall months FUMC collected for various local agencies which serve the poor and homeless here in Colorado Springs: Care and Share (1000 pounds of food), The Place (536 items and $420 gift cards), Family Promise (747 items and $100 gift cards), Salvation Army (523 items and $133 gift cards), Westside Cares (978 items), First Stars (over 450 gift cards with a value of $11,400), Christmas in the Parking Lot (over 100 new sleeping bags).
Thank you for your generosity as you gave and gave and gave to so many people in need. Your generous hearts impacted many people locally! The Missions Ministry team enthusiastically led these donation drives which blessed many people. Gratitude abounds as we consider how many lives were touched by your giving! Thank you for sharing from your servant-hearts!

We will discuss the origins of Scripture, (Who wrote the Bible? How reliable is it?), how it was passed down for thousands of years, and why there are so many translations and commentaries today. You will come away with a better understanding of how to read scripture and how to choose a Bible or commentary that may be right for you.
WE MADE IT! Happy New Year and we hope that you had a wonderful Christmas season! We are looking forward to a blessed 2021 and hope to be together again soon! As you are all well aware the Bishop, has asked for us to to refrain from in-person meetings until the End of January 2021. Although this means we will not be in the Awesome Zone, we will be finding ways to connect with those that we can in the meantime. We will continue to follow state, local, and church guidelines as we are still moving through this.
Retreat Survey We are hoping to still have another retreat this year! We were successful at being safe, having fun, and teaching wonderful lessons.

Sponsored by FUMC and the Contemplative Journey Program Friday, February 5-Saturday, February 6 On Zoom Video Conferencing

We will pray the centering prayer and Holy Scripture with lectio divina.
Let us come together to make a joyful sound of gratitude and appreciation in the silence for the gifts God gave us!

JOHN WESLEY RANCH FUNDRAISER The John Wesley Ranch has been a part of all our spiritual lives for so many years. It has been a blessing to thousands of people who have come to experience nature and God in some pretty amazing ways. It is our mission going forward to continue to provide that encounter here, now, and forever. We are currently open to FUMC members, and there will come a day when we can open to a broader community. During this down time and in the coming months and years, we would like to enhance the 100 year-old property in ways that will better serve YOU. In order to do so, we are starting a fundraising campaign to support ongoing projects at The Ranch. We are currently in the midst of remodeling the kitchen in the Cottage. We will be removing old fixtures, reorganizing the overall kitchen flow, and replacing the carpet in the common areas. This project will cost approximately $6,000. If you have had the opportunity to experience The Ranch, I am sure you would like it to be available for the next generation of youth and families. Your gifts will do just that. We also have future projects in mind, such as fixing the concrete walkway, the cottage bathroom, new carpet in the chapel, a new walk bridge, renovating the deck on the lodge, and many more projects. With your help we will be able to preserve, protect, and pass on The Ranch to our future generations. DONATE HERE!
WAYS TO GIVE Thank you for your continued support of FUMC. The easiest way to give is online. You can also set up your account for automatic withdrawals by checking the box that says "Make this Gift Recurring." If you need assistance or have any questions about setting up your electronic giving, please contact Colleen Prior at [email protected] You may also mail in your checks to 420 N Nevada Ave.Colorado Springs CO 80903
