The mission of the Music & Arts Ministries of First United Methodist Church is to connect people to God and to one another through excellent, diverse, and inspirational music and performing and visual arts. Is God calling you to share your talents through the church? If you sing, play an instrument, are interested in the visual arts or in theatrical production, you are invited to join us and develop your musical and artistic side while serving God with your talents. Participation in choirs, the division of drama or visual arts is open to all who wish to serve. Professional training is not required. If you are interested in learning more about the spiritual, musical, cultural, social and educational opportunities available in the Music and Arts Ministries please visit our Music & Arts page to find out more.
Growing in our faith together is an important part of First United Methodist Church. We have many ways for adults to connect and grow in their faith. Whatever you are looking for, we have a place for you. Within our faith community you will find small groups, women's groups, a men's group, class opportunities we call Faith Academy, Sunday School classes, contemplative gatherings, and so much more. Visit our Adult Spiritual Formation page to find out more.
Here at First United Methodist Church, we have an amazing group of young people that are part of Youth Ministry. In this group, there are those who are trying to decide if a life of faith is for them, those who are beginning to grow in a new relationship with Christ, and those who are deepening their walk with God. If you are willing to become a friend to others, dig deeper spiritually, and serve humbly like Jesus did, this is a place for you to consider. The youth leaders are trained, caring, compassionate folks who love our youth!
Our youth area is in The Zone (south basement). We have a comfortable coffee house, and game room with pool table, ping-pong, foosball, video games, and snack bar. Come join us! Visit our Youth news page for schedule of events.
Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs.” (Matthew 19:14) The children are not simply the future of the church, they already show us God’s kingdom in their curiosity and lack of prejudice and deep trust. The mission of our children’s ministry is to nurture and help our children learn about and experience God’s love. The children will be surrounded by loving adults, meeting in a safe and child friendly environment. They will engage stories from the Bible, our Methodist heritage and tradition, and will be invited to share God’s love through acts of kindness and compassion. Caring for the broken and broken hearted, for the sick and lonely, for the grieving and most vulnerable people, is a calling we have responded to with passion and compassion in our church. From hospital to homebound visits; funeral and memorial services to grief support groups and a whole host of other ministries, our congregation has equipped, trained, compassionate caregivers. Maybe you have been given a gift of caring for those who need a touch, a prayer, a presence reminding them of God’s presence in their lives. For more information on how to serve or on how to receive support or care, visit our Caring Ministries page to find out more.
Mission work is woven into the fabric of our church. Many of the groups, classes, organizations, and age related ministries are engaged in reaching out in the name of Christ. In addition, our Missions Committee helps connect people from the congregation and the community to those most vulnerable and in need. Our mission work includes opportunities locally to touch the lives of our neighbors, and globally to share the love of Christ across the globe. There is a chance for everyone to participate through giving and hands on ministry. We are the hands of Christ! Come, help make a difference! For additional information visit our Mission & Outreach Ministries page to find out more.
