Our regular Sunday School schedule below is on hold until further notice.

Kindergarten - 6th Grade
On Sunday mornings at both 9:30 and 11:00 am, parents sign children in at the welcome table in the back of the sanctuary. Children then gather in their grade-level pew and are greeted by their Shepherd. Following the Children's Message, children all proceed to Kingdom City (2nd floor North). Pick-up for Sunday School is in Kingdom City.

Sunday School, 9:30 am & 11:00 am
Children are divided into age groups and each week discover a Bible topic through a different medium. The month's topic is presented in a creative, age-appropriate, hands-on way through a variety of activities. Rotation activities include science & geography, storytelling & drama, cooking, games & music, arts & crafts, video, media, and prayer.

FUMC is committed to being a family-friendly church with a dedicated and trained staff to care for your children. Our nursery is located on the second floor north in Kingdom City. When bringing your children to the Nursery, please sign-in at the classroom tables in the Nursery hallway.

Sunday Nursery - Birth through 24 months
Our nursery is a warm and nurturing environment where babies first experience the love of Christ. They may attend anytime on Sundays from 8:00 am - noon.

Sunday Nursery -  Preschool Ages 2-5
We have two Sunday School classes for our preschoolers: 2-3 year olds and our 4-5 year olds both meet from 9:30-10:30 am and 11:00 am - noon. Children learn Bible stories and participate in play and a special blessing time.

Nursery for Events and Programs
We offer childcare for infants through 5 year-olds  for church events such as special worship services and Wednesday night classes.

Requesting a Nursery
Groups, classes and events needing childcare must submit nursery requests by email to Marjorie Gross, Director of Children's Ministries, at marjorieg@fumc-cs.org by the 15th of the month prior to the event. (For example, March requests must be made by February 15th.) You must submit a request in order to advertise "childcare available" when publicizing your event.

If you have any questions about our nursery or the availability of nursery for an event, please contact Marjorie.

The Prayer Room

NOT IN PERSON MEETING UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
The Prayer Room is located in the south wing, Room 231. It is available for quiet prayer and was blessed with a prayer that God’s Spirit would open communication, minister to souls, and comfort hearts of all who enter this place of prayer.

Children are Our Blessing!

BE BLESSED
At First United Methodist Church we believe that all children are a blessing from God and their presence blesses, not only our congregation, but the world. We have a wonderful paid and volunteer staff who are dedicated to helping your child strengthen their relationship with God and grow in their faith!

BE A BLESSING
We are also very mission-oriented and believe that being a blessing in the world can transform the lives of others. Whether it's creating cards or gifts for our shut-ins, supporting the ABC School in Bangladesh, filling a trailer with food during lent for ESM (Ecumenical Social Ministries), or collecting items needed for IHN. We always have our hearts open and hands outstretched to love our neighbors around the world and here in our own community. Come serve with us!

CHILDREN'S MINISTRIES MISSION

With God’s help and guidance, the Children’s Ministries of First United Methodist Church, covenants to:

Exemplify the love of Christ whenever children are present;

By providing an interactive environment which is: Sacred and Holy; Safe; physically, spiritually and emotionally respectful;

Acknowledging children as precious and spiritual gifts from God.

And... Where children are invited to:

Explore Scripture and traditions;

Experience God’s presence through prayer, worship and reflection;

Be empowered to use their own reason, spirituality and discernment to integrate Scripture, tradition and experience into their daily lives.

You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself. ~Luke 10:27
