Youth & Adult LYM Gatherings

YOUTH ADVISORY TEAM (YAT) MEETINGS
Sunday, March 19
Sunday, May 7
12:15 pm, The Zone

Every so many weeks a few of us gather to reflect on past youth events and plan upcoming gatherings. We will eat, reflect on how the fall is going so far, and look forward to upcoming events including the winter retreat. The YAT would love to add your voice to the plans!

LYM GROWING GATHERING
Sunday, April 9, 12:15 pm - 1:30 pm, The Zone

Leaders are learners. Each youth ministry volunteer is asked to continue growing together with God and our team on behalf of our teenagers and church. We will take this opportunity to hear a presentation on an important topic facing teenagers and have an un-hurried conversation — which is just not possible during the normal course of our activities. Thank you, leaders, for your faithfulness!

NO YOUTH GATHERING

Have a wonderful Spring Break!

HOPE IN AN ENVELOPE FUNDRAISER COMING SOON!

If you are going on our Pine Ridge Mission Trip or on the John Wesley Ranch Work Week, this fundraiser is just for you!

In April, there will be a sign-up sheet on the bar in The Zone. Sign up to work one shift (approximately one hour) at the Hope in an Envelope Table which will be set up in the Hospitality Center on the Sundays of May 7, 14 and 21. Here’s how the funds we raise are split up:

80% of the funds go into our Hope Fund, helping us with the many expenses of our mission and local outreach projects.

20% of the funds are pulled out and split into equal shares. Each youth who works one shift at the Hope Table will get one of those shares. Most years, each share is worth approximately $100. You can apply your share to any mission trip or JWR Work Week.

Important: If you will be requesting a scholarship for a mission/work trip, we expect you to work a shift with the Hope Fund Raiser to help with our group efforts.

Be sure to sign up in April!

ACCEPTANCE
Wednesday, April 5, 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm, The Zone

Sometimes, all of us find ourselves feeling like an outsider, misunderstood, left out. Tonight, we’ll take a look at Saint Paul, and find we have a brother who understands from experience what we are going through when acceptance is hard to come by. Scripture text: Acts 9:20-31.

MESSY SPIRITUALITY: GOD'S ANNOYING LOVE FOR IMPERFECT PEOPLE - PART 1
Wednesday, April 12, 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm, The Zone

The book, Messy Spirituality, by Michael Yaconelli, is like fresh air for the everyday soul. Yaconelli dares to suggest that imperfection, unfinishedness, and messiness are, in fact, earmarks of true Christianity. Real faith is messy, erratic, lopsided as well as liberating!

MESSY SPIRITUALITY: GOD'S ANNOYING LOVE FOR IMPERFECT PEOPLE - PART 2
Wednesday, April 19, 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm, The Zone

We continue discovering the earthy and freeing wisdom from Michael Yaconelli’s book, Messy Spirituality. Some have called this book a “strong antidote for spiritual perfectionism.” It has helped many cut loose from the tyranny of ought-to’s and find a deep spirituality of being loved.

WHEN JESUS DROPS IN
Wednesday, April 26, 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm, The Zone

There’s a company called Zipline, that uses its fleet of drones to drop important medical supplies in remote areas of Rwanda. This technology reminds us of Jesus’ post-resurrection appearances, when he seemed to be dropping in everywhere! Scripture: Luke 24:13-35.

FOR THE LIFE OF THE WORLD: LETTERS TO EXILES
PART ONE: EXILE
Wednesday, May 3, 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm, The Zone

For the Life of the World is an entertaining, quirky, film series that explores the deeper meaning of Salvation. Have you ever wondered, “What is my Salvation actually FOR?” Is it only about getting into heaven, or something that comes later? Is it just to have a “friend in Jesus?” This film series will likely have you giggling as well as wondering deeply, as it helps us look at what it means to be strangers and pilgrims living in “the now and not yet” of God’s Kingdom Come on Earth.  We’ll learn a bit about how our lives on Earth matter for God’s plan for the world. Tonight’s theme: Exile.

HOPE IN AN ENVELOPE FUNDRAISER!
Sundays, May 7, 14, and 21, after each Service, Hospitality Center

If you signed-up in April to work at the table, we'll see you there!
