Mission Arts Center

Our senior minister had a vision that has caught on with the staff and laity of our congregation.  The vision was that our congregation would begin using some available space in the property we owned just south of the main building for a center that would help people, particularly children and youth, deepen their spirituality through art.  Today that vision is coming to be a reality.
The Mission Arts Center (MAC) is a center for spirituality and the arts for Colorado Springs.  Our goal is to help all people deepen their spirituality through doing art, in a variety of media.  Art allows us to see in ways that otherwise we could not.  It is, in many cases, transformative.  For those who are in a difficult time in their lives the MAC is a safe place, a sanctuary of sorts, where broken hearts are mended & wounded souls find a piece of their healing.  We provide a place where art and light can transform moments of hopelessness into days of hope.
We offer drawing, painting, pottery, and performing arts classes at minimal or no cost.  these classes are open to the public.  Instructors are artist volunteers who have passes a rigorous background check.  We can also custom design a program for your non-profit organization.
In addition to wonderful classes that are free or at a minimal charge, we have open studio time each month for artists to come and share time and thoughts together.
Our space holds a wonderful gallery for exhibits, and we would love to have a conversation with you about hosting an exhibit if you are an artist.
We are a ministry of First United Methodist Church and we seek to be ecumenical and open to learning and cooperating with many different religious groups as art and spirituality dance together.
We invite you to check us out at http://missionartscenter.weebly.com/index.html or contact one of our Executive Committee members for more information.
